Mr. Cristiano Rinaldi

PRESIDENT

Mr. Cristiano Rinaldi is the President of Capella Hotel Group. Joining the group in September 2020, Mr. Rinaldi provides direction and guidance to all Capella managed hotels in achieving operational excellence. He also lends a strategic vision for new openings under the group’s rapid global expansion plans.

Throughout his impressive career spanning over 25 years, Mr. Rinaldi opened more than 35 luxury hotels across the globe. He demonstrates a deep understanding of the industry’s best practices, having held leadership positions across Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific with Ritz-Carlton, Edition, One&Only and Bulgari Hotels & Resorts. Leading up to his appointment at Capella Hotel Group, Mr. Rinaldi was Cluster General Manager for The Tokyo EDITION Toranomon and Ginza and Vice President, Operations of One & Only Resorts.

HERVE HUMLER

CHAIRMAN

Herve Humler is one of the four founding partners of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, where he held the roles of President and Chief Operating Officer for an extensive period. He also assumed the roles of President and Chief Operating Officer for St. Regis and Bulgari branded hotels, resorts, and residences. At Ocean Club Group, Mr. Humler held the positions of President of the Board, Partner, President, and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining Capella Hotel Group, he served as the Chief Operating Officer and President of Operations of Qiddiya Investment Fund, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Funds (PIF) of Saudi Arabia. He was also a member of the Global Advisory Board for Georgetown University, McDonough School of Business.

Mr. Humler has been honoured with the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, which is presented to individuals who have shared their wealth of knowledge, compassion, talents, and generosity with those less fortunate.

EVAN KWEE

VICE-CHAIRMAN

Evan Kwee is the Head of Hospitality and Design for Pontiac Land Group, a privately held property developer, owner and operator based in Singapore. He was previously leading the Group’s business development arm for 15 years. Pontiac Land’s asset under management is in excess of SGD 10 billion. Evan is also the Vice Chairman of Capella Hotel Group, where he oversees the development efforts for the Capella Hotel Group and heads up product development for the group working closely with clients, architects and engineers to ensure design excellence while creating innovative and profitable products.

Evan graduated from Babson College with a Degree in Business Administration and Management.

STEPHEN LEE CHING YEN

SPECIAL ADVISOR TO THE BOARD

Mr. Lee is the Chairman of Shanghai Commercial Bank (Hong Kong), Tripartite Alliance Ltd and Deputy Chairman of M+S Pte Ltd. He is Managing Director of Shanghai Commercial & Savings Bank Ltd (Taipei) and GMT Investments Pts Ltd. Mr. Lee is currently a Board Director of Temasek Holdings Pte Ltd, CapitalLand Ltd, Singapore Labour Foundation, Kidney Dialysis Foundation, Marina South Investments Pte Ltd, Ophir-Rochor Investments and MS Property Management. He is also appointed as Member of Council of Presidential Advisers, a Member of NTUC-ARU Board of Trustee and the Chancellor of Singapore University of Social Sciences.

Mr. Lee was the President of the Singapore National Employers Federation, Chairman of Singapore Airlines and SIA Engineering Company Ltd. and Chairman of NTUC Income Insurance Cooperative Ltd. Mr. Lee was awarded the Beijing’s Friendship Awards to Foreign Experts in 2007, the Singapore Distinguished Service Order in 2006, the Singapore Public Service Star in 1998 and the Distinguished Comrade of Labour in 2015. He was also conferred one of Singapore’s highest state awards, Order of Nila Utama (First Class) in 2015.

GUY HARVEY-SAMUEL

Board Member

Guy Harvey-Samuel is an Independent Director of Wing Tai Holdings Ltd, Mapletree Industrial Trust Management Ltd, M1 Limited, Clifford Capital Holdings, and Capella Hotel Group. Mr. Harvey-Samuel serves in the community as a Justice of the Peace and sits on the Garden City Fund board. He was formerly a board member of National Parks Board, National Arts Council and was Vice Chairman of the Community Chest. He was awarded the Public Service Medal (Bronze) in the President’s National Day Awards in 2021.

Mr. Harvey-Samuel spent the majority of his career working with HSBC Group and worked in 12 countries across the world, undertaking senior management roles in Australia, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. He retired in 2017 as Group General Manager, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Singapore, and had previously served as HSBC’s Group General Manager and Head of International, Asia Pacific based in Hong Kong. Mr. Harvey-Samuel was a long-time member of the Asia Executive Committee and, after retiring, was non-executive Chairman of HSBC (Singapore) Ltd.

JEAN-MARC POULLET

BOARD MEMBER

Mr. Poullet is the Chairman Asia for Burgess. His role is to provide guidance on the company’s developments in the region and to help coordinate key client relationships. Prior his appointment with Burgess, Mr. Poullet retired as Senior Partner of global business advisory firm McKinsey & Co. Currently based in Singapore, Mr. Poullet has been in Asia since 1993 and has more than 20 years experience advising leading Asian business leaders and entrepreneurs.

PHILIP KWEE

Philip is the Chief Operating Officer of Pontiac Land Private Limited, a privately-held Singapore-based real estate company with a diversified international portfolio. Prior to joining Pontiac Land, Philip was a consultant with McKinsey & Company, and also worked for Singtel. He has a Master of Arts (Law) from the University of Cambridge.

KWEE KER-WEI

Ker-Wei Kwee is Senior Vice President of Investments at Pontiac Land Group, focusing on the groups new development projects across the hospitality, residential, and commercial space. Prior to Pontiac Land Group, Ker-Wei was with Hines, a Houston-based real estate company, in its San Francisco regional office.

Ker-Wei is also a management committee member of the Real Estate Developers Association of Singapore (REDAS). He holds a BA in International Relations and a MBA from Stanford University.

RONALD ISSEN

BOARD MEMBER

Mr. Ronald Issen is Managing Director, Issen & Company with experience in the gaming/hospitality, real estate, private education and commodities/infrastructure sectors having spent more than 15 years in Asia in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Macao. He is a past Senior Advisor with Apollo Global Management LLC, and has served as a non-independent board member of both HKSE and SGX listed companies.

He is a former member of the Executive Management Committee of Hong Kong-headquartered eSun Holdings Limited (Lai Sun Group), a leading Hong Kong based hotel owner/property developer and Chinese-language film and live entertainment group. Earlier, Mr. Issen spent more than 10 years as a senior banking executive in project finance and government advisory with then-Banque Indosuez (now part of Credit Agricole) in Europe and Asia, having begun his career Smith Barney (now part of Citigroup) and with the Boston Consulting Group. He holds an MBA from Stanford University.

FAN MIN

Board Member

Mr. Fan is the co-founder of Trip.com Group (formerly known as Ctrip.com International Ltd), and has served as vice chairman of the board since March 2013 and president since February 2009. He was also the chief executive officer from 2006 to 2013.

During his tenure as chief executive officer, Mr. Fan was named one of the Top 10 Great Leaders Award of the Year on the 2010 APEC SME Value List, 2008 EY Entrepreneur of the Year and 2007 Best New Economic Figure of the Year. In 2009 and 2016, he was elected Vice Chairman of the Board of the China Tourism Association.

Prior to co-founding Trip.com Group, Mr. Fan was the chief executive officer of Shanghai Travel Service Company, a leading domestic travel agency in China. From 1990 to 1997, he served as the deputy general manager and in a number of other senior positions at Shanghai New Asia Hotel Management Company, which was one of the leading hotel management companies in China.

He received his master’s degree in management sciences from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1990 and bachelor’s degree in industrial management sciences in 1987. He also studied at the Lausanne Hotel Management School.
